Spheres + Self-portrait in a Convex Mirror Projected on My Wall by Jonny Lohr, 2016

Spheres + Self-portrait in a Convex Mirror Projected on My WallSPHERES is essays on music produced as a zine, complete with stolen paper and borrowed copier. The covers are calligraphed gold text over Kinkos.

Self-portrait takes inspiration from Ashbery, and also Clark Coolidge’s The Crystal Text and Craig Dworkin’s reboot of The Crystal Text, the poems show a writer placing themselves inside the larger implications of poetry, finding themselves clothed in every connotation good and terrible. It is printed in a 4×5 chapbook, with two fold-out inserts as the central poems. The covers were stolen from the Wave Books warehouse and hand-painted. The two books are hand-bound and leashed together, literally. Carelessness with one can cause mutual injury. The reader can choose to separate the two for convenience, however to do so will break the texts.
