Sad Boi Merzbau by Jamie Townsend, 2020

Sad Boi Merzbau creates installations of the self, housed within body, housed within context. The titular Sad Boi is streaming connection through bombardments of the world and presentation in return. This sequencing is shown early with American Football and Black Bloc placed together, combining the social and political into the mass panorama of the scene. Community, style, justice, poetry, nourishment, etc. all are choke points of formation for the Sad Boi; the indexing of the self within the scene.

This book is handbound with a pamphlet stitch using black waxed Irish linen thread. The text pages are laser printed on 24 lb recycled paper. The cover is laser printed on an 80 lb cover stock. The cover image is by Zack Pieper. End sheets were made by laser printing solid black coverage over 24 lb recycled paper, giving the page a glossy texture that could age or petina over time.
